  • Katatonia (SWE) – Dance Of December Souls PINK LP 32.88

    Black Metal

Katatonia was formed in Stockholm Sweden, in 1991 by Anders Nystrom and Jonas Renkse. Their debut album, ‘Dance of December Souls’, was released in 1993, gaining the band recognition for their eclectic brand of gothic doom/death metal and joining acts such as Paradise Lost and My Dying Bride as one of the genre’s defining bands. On future albums a newer, sleeker Katatonia sound came to the fore, starting with a streamlined and structured collection of melodic dark rock songs which became third album ‘Discouraged Ones’ which is widely regarded as the main evolution point for modern day Katatonia, where a much more progressive style of metallic rock was successfully embraced.

  • Kathaaria (DEU) – To Be Shunned By All...As Centres Of Pestilence LP 26.88

    Black Metal

“To be shunned by all…as centres of Pestilence”, the sophomore album of Germany’s Kathaaria, took fourteen years to manifest. In 2008, when EAL released the band’s debut, we were proud to support an act that wasn’t musically predictable. Perhaps the guitarwork hinted somewhat towards the most forward-thinking acts of the time, and a general affinity for the weird. In any case, the record was deeply personal and entirely unaffiliated with any currents or trends. Black Metal done by people who know their metal but refuse to abide by conventions.
In a nutshell, this blatant disregard for norms and expectations is precisely what “To be shunned by all…as centres of Pestilence” is about. It’s an album that falls into no fixed category besides the one reserved for highly personal takes on Black Metal.

  • Keep of Kalessin (NOR) – Agnen – A Journey Through the Dark LP 34.88

    Black Metal

Following on from the band’s 1997 debut, ‘Through Times of War’, Keep of Kalessin’s sophomore release, ‘Agnen’, is hyper-speed dark and epic black metal at its best, incorporating elements of thrash along with eerie discordant riffing in a relentless storm of brutality. The band’s themes are inspired by The Earthsea Quartet, the fantasy created by respected American writer Ursula K. Le Guin; an ancient world of magic and conflict between darkness and light.

  • Kerasfóra (CL) – Denn die Todten reiten schnell LP 22.88

    Black Metal

    Black Metal

5 new tracks by Finlands KERES, and perhaps some of their finest material yet. Yes, I wrote ‘they’, as this time, Atvar for the first time has a session drummer, namely Luxixul Sumering Auter.

What to expect? Absolutely nothing new. It’s still unmistakably KERES; mid-tempo, synth-laden, atmospheric Black Metal with hints to classic, timeless bands without neither creating anything new, nor blatantly copying the past.

Mid-tempo, synth-laden and atmosphere packed Finnish BLACK METAL with nods to classic , timeless bands without neither creating anything new, nor copying the past.

    Black Metal

After endless delays, both the CD and LP versions of these albums are now ready for shipping. Not only did Atvar record a new album, Vexilloid, he subsequently recorded an EP, The King sleeps without Tears, during the same session.

Known for his massive productivity over the last few decades, this goes to show the well isn’t empty quite yet.

Two new releases in the by now well known KÊRES vein; Finnish Black Metal straight to the point of a freshly sharpened knife. Effective in its primitivity, these albums is a pure questionable delight in their harshness. For those who know what to expect: you get what you expect.

  • Khaos Aura (NOR) – Born of this Fire LP 26.88

    Black Metal

By force of winter’s wind, sweeping over frozen Norwegian tundra the violence of Khaos Aura emerges, with a howling ice cold battle cry.
Despondent and anti-Christian at the root , like true practitioners of these dark arts’ past, the battle rages on.
Led by Scorned who has written and recorded the album, Born of This Fire and assisted by Torkus of Tornekrans, on ferocious session Drums, the pair rages through an album that at its sonic heart could be equal parts old Darkthrone & Gorgoroth as it could be Seigneur Voland or Judas Iscariot. Malevolent, hateful & cold but with a presence of melodic grandiose beauty. Like watching the victor emerging from a battlefield fog, sword dripping with blood, gloriously having conquered new realms. Khaos Aura stands firmly in its roots wielding their war-craft in defiance of all the new age brings..
7 songs recorded during the coldest and darkest months of Norwegian winter. Released in a season of light, to bring darkness. An age and an Aura of Khaos. Born of this fire.

  • Khors (UKR) – Where the Word Acquires Eternity LP 26.88

    Black Metal

Our 7th full-length “Where the Word Acquires Eternity” is a concept album dedicated to the events that took place in our native city of Kharkiv in the 30s of the XX century – the times called Renaissance of Ukrainian culture. By that time, in the end of 1920s, a residential multi-storey house was built by cooperative of writers. Externally the house was built in the shape of the letter С and was named Будинок “Слово” (a House “Word”). In most Slavic languages the word “Слово” means “Word”. A whole galaxy of Ukrainian writers, playwrights, poets, publicists, actors and public figures lived here until mass repressions against Ukrainian cultural figures began in 1933.
This tragic page of history is known as the “Executed Renaissance”. Almost all the residents of the House “Slovo” were subjected to repression: some were shot, some were exiled, and some committed suicide.
The walls of the writer’s House “Slovo” still preserve the atmosphere of stone cells, which have become “custodies” for their residents.
