Sweden’s MARDUK are not only one of the most long running and respected black metal acts out there, but also one of the most productive. Even fourteen albums into their storied career, the quartet have never ever delivered a weak album and never wavered from their path of utter blasphemy and misanthropic contempt. Now, the band are re-visiting various much sought-after titles from their vast catalogue. “Wormwood” (2009) now returned on vinyl and CD. While going through possible extras for the “Wormwood” album, the band discovered a fully mastered track called “Shadow Comes”, which was supposed to be a bonus track but remained unused. The album has been mastered for vinyl by Patrick W. Engel.

Since its original CD release in 1995 on Baron Records and the following year’s one-off CD release by the relatively unknown Nocturn Records, “For a Glory of All Evil Spirits, Rise for Victory”, Mastiphal’s first album, has remained mostly in obscurity. Now properly reissued on gatefold LP.

For over 25 years now, MELECHESH have been crafting a singular sound that encompasses black metal, death metal, and most uniquely, Middle Eastern folk music. That they were Israel’s most known black metal export is only part of the MELECHESH story, for that story would mean nothing if there weren’t classic albums to back it up. Of them, the band’s three-album run on OSMOSE in the early/mid 2000s – Djinn, Sphynx, and Emissaries – is widely considered to be the band’s best work.

If you are a sucker for dark romanticism and want something altogether different that probably hasn’t been done in this fashion before, Midnight Betrothed may be the band for you.
