Atter Igjen Kommer Mørket Krypende translates to ‘yet again the darkness comes crawling’, and what better timing to launch this project as we write November 25th, winter is coming, the plague is threatening all sense of universal order, and we here in Norway are entering 24/7 darkness for months on end.
SYNING represents these times perfectly in their all-consuming bleakness and despair. Haunting and hopeless Black Metal performed by Cernunnus (Manii/Manes), Levninger (Knokkelklang) and V.Einride (Whoredom Rife), and needless to say, this is a Terratur Possessions related project that came together naturally through each others respective projects previously released by this label.
The result? Something different, yet hauntingly familiar. From the raging opening track Atter Igjen Kommer Mørket Krypende, to the slower, doomy Et Siste Skrik (‘One Final Scream’), ending with the absolutely mezmerising track Fortapt, the project takes you on a ride towards the apocalypse and whatever lies beyond.In stock

Syphilitic Vaginas (JPN) – Complete Studio Collection DLP €34.88

Although Syphilitic Vaginas has produced two full-length albums in its thirteen-year history, it is probably most recognized for the much more prolific number of EPs and split recordings that it has released during that time. Five of the earliest of these recordings, along with eight previously-unreleased tracks, were first compiled and released in 2008 on CD format by Rescued from Life Records in a collection entitled “Complete Studio Recordings.” This same compilation of destructive metal punk mayhem is now hereby released for the first time on vinyl DLP format, courtesy of Nuclear War Now! Productions. These thirty-five tracks perfectly distill into a single release Syphilitic Vagina’s dedication to a blend of sleazy and decadent sinvocations that rival those of the Japanese masters that the band admires most. Achieving a rare feat of being both raw in nature and incredibly precise in execution, the riffs are catchy and memorable without losing any of their undeniable virulence. Meanwhile, the demented vocals beckon one to commit unforgivably perverse pleasures of the flesh, as the bass and drums churn away as the maelstrom at the epicenter of the storm that harnesses its fury and drives it forward. Whereas the full-length album is typically seen as the standard by which a band’s worth is measured, “Complete Studio Recordings,” as a series of snapshots in a band’s early trajectory, reminds us of the potency that can be achieved in the more focused and abbreviated format of the EP and split, but only when the artist itself is up to the task. In the case of Syphilitic Vaginas, this prerequisite is satisfied in spades.

Tapias De Pilatos (COL) – Cementerio de Excomulgados CD €13.88

Ultra morbid sepulchral Black Metal from Bogota, Columbia. Fittingly named after a local cemetery for the excommunicated, Tapias De Pilatos sounds like possessed cadavers rising from the dead after centuries. The vocals are totally dead, creaking tales of the moribund in Spanish, and the production is dry as deceased flesh turning into dust in eternal darkness. This work is an evocation of human evil, inspired by terrifying stories from Bogota and Colombia. The history of the band dates all the way back to 1994, yet their only release prior to this is a 1999 demo that didn’t see it’s real release until 2019. Without sounding retro nor following any current streams pestering the underground, on their 2022 debut album Cementerio de Excomulgados they conjure back the spirit of times when Black Metal meant something truly demonic, scary and above all: original.

Taranis and Urtod Void have signed a covenant on the 30th anniversary of “Faust”, to seal an exceptional reissue of this legendary album. After the mysterious end of the band, many questions remained unanswered. Aside from what exactly was responsible for the ending (at this point we would recommend the book “Rzeźpospolita” by Piotr Dorosiński, you will definitely find some answers to your questions there), many are wondering when Faust will receive its well-deserved reissue. For everyone who is not familiar with this album, prepare for a somewhat more developed work, even a concept album that is divided into two parts (plays). These two parts “Waltz Mephistoph” and “Balneum Diaboli” are about a psychodramatic act with Faust and Mephisto, which was presented just too brilliantly by the band, not only musically but also lyrically and artistically. Where as other bands of the scene would take inspiration from Rotting Christ, Sarcófago or Bathory, Taranis instead took their source of inspiration from the works of Swiss black metal act Samael and the dark poetic art of Polish writer and practitioner of gnostic mysticism, Tadeusz Miciński. Devoting the entirety of “The Obscurity” to Miciński and all those following a similar path of dark arts and mysteries, the time has come to let this darkness blossom again.
