A lyrical and musical descend awaits through the night, into the depths of the unknown, the unfathomable and the uncertain. A dark journey through the grip of celestial powers, hopelessness in darkness and ultimately letting go of fear and embracing the inevitable end, beyond the veil.

The lyrical universe dwells into the oblivion, the state between life and death, and the mystical atmosphere of forgotten forests and what dwells within.

Ian Stuart Donaldson’s first and best solo album from 1989. The “No turning back” LP was released shortly after the “After the Fire” album, and like that LP it is punkier than most of Skrewdriver’s later material. And while much of this LP is hard rock, some songs are Oi!-heavy: “Fortress Europe”, “Battle Cries” and especially “Firepower” sound like what Skrewdriver played on the “Hail the New Dawn” LP. Even the title track, despite being based on a metal riff, is less than two minutes long and has a lot of punk anger. “Campaign in the East” is one of Ian Stuart’s best hard rock compositions, not only on this album but in general.

In addition to the six songs from the mini-CD / mini-LP at the time, it also contains 4 more songs as a treat on top: two songs from the first Skrewdriver LP on ROR (H.t.n.d. from 1984) and from the third Skrewdriver LP (W.R. from 1987 ). Namely “Justice” plus “If there is a riot” as well as “Behind the bars” and “I can see the fire”. The record in this version was actually supposed to be released in 2022, but unfortunately it has only now made it to the public eye because other re-releases had priority.

Here, the attack is sharpened to an enviable degree, finesse meeting fury headlong, as each catacomb-esque creation expands onward and outward. The vortex of sound Ifrinn create across this EP is akin to levitational hypnosis: undeniably physical in its approach, sometimes overwhelmingly so, but a paralysis of subconscious and spirit that’s paradoxically liberating and intoxicating.
