Satyricon (NOR) – Dark Medieval Times CD

Black Metal
The first Satyricon album, Dark Medieval Times, was released in the autumn of 1993, through the young band’s own Moonfog Productions imprint. Recorded earlier that year, it was both instantly recognisable as the product of the thriving Norwegian scene and as something wholly distinctive within that superficially restrictive musical framework. Even more remarkable was the fact that the entire record had been written and performed (with the exception of drums) by a then 17-year-old Sigurd ‘Satyr’ Wongraven: clearly a prodigious talent with an abundance of epic and perverse ideas rattling around in his head.

An establishment of new sounds, and an extension of familiar sounds, “Vermillion Apparitions Frozen in Chimera Twilight” is VAMPIRSKA at it’s strongest and most enchanting. Six tracks that stylistically expand on what was previously known to be the VAMPIRSKA sound, redefined into darkness with an all-destroying ritual for the supernatural devastation that captures the unfamiliar essence of the entity. VAMPIRSKA reignites the black flame to burn stronger than ever with its most deadly display of black metal carnage to date.

Dreamscapes of Illusion captures the volatile and uncontrollable essence of a dream. The album is a journey into landscapes that are hidden from our sight and conceptually revolves around the many illusions incorporated into our reality.
