“By command of the Hermetic Order of Ytene, “Nova Nativitas Mundi” is a majestic, soaring and Diabolical Black Metal space opera in 3 acts.
In Act 1 the listener follows the journey of the royal alchemist, Myrddin, as he is appointed his holy mission to, one way or another, set the ball rolling on the formation of a new Galactic Imperium in the name of the king. The King has long viewed the distant astral bodies as a means to connect with divinity, and now after communion with what he perceives to be Jesus Christ, he sees it as his destiny to reach them and become a godlike figure himself.
In Act 1 Myrddin develops his unholy formula to propel man to the stars and reach the neutron star that the king perceives to be his portal to divinity.
In Act 2 the listener follows Myrddin and his crew to the stars, where they reach the neutron star to find only that it is no such thing. The crew is sucked into a wormhole and greeted not by divinity, but by Satan himself. It was he that visited the king that fateful night, A diabolical trick by the prince of darkness to tempt the once holy men into the construction of a new Galactic Imperium, but not in the name of a divine god king, but in the name of dark and powerful entities.
In Act 3 the listener follows the crew as they undergo this iniquitous task, by first constructing a cosmic temple to Satan, where worship and sacrifice will replace life on earth with the rule of galactic satanic worship and eventually the formation of the final Galactic Imperium.”

Although “Wolven Mysteries of Ancient Lore” is shorter; the lore, style and essence remain untouched, with a little variation in terms of the atmosphere, using some Dungeon Synth passages and interludes.
Production-wise is maybe a bit “dirtier” (so to speak) than its predecessors; vocals in here are more in the back-ground, resembling more to an echo rather than an actual voice, and function more as an complementary atmos-pheric element. Other than that, all the instruments are well differenciated and easy to isolate, but they also come as a whole. The harmony and consonance between all the songs is very solid.
Eight songs, half of them being instrumental interludes and the other half consisting of four long passages, which I am unable to highlight one of them. “Stronghold of the Black Abyss” is their most generic (with a good conno-tation obviously) in terms of style, with a remarkable second half; “Black Autumn Silence” is their most saddest and melancholic song to date, with more than half of it being instrumental and with feminine voices/chants (which has become a trademark of this band since day 1) and griefing riffs. The homonymous song if the most complex of them four, with a Dungeon Synth bridge functioning as a tempo changer.
“Wolven Mysteries of Ancient Lore” is another highly remarkable piece of Black Metal by the New Hampshire fellas. Captivating, full of identity and atmospheric melancholy.

We chose to keep the recordings in their pure form, to keep the old raw feeling they had back in the days. These recordings were the very roots of Ancient, what got them noticed in the underground scene worldwide back in 1993/ 1994.
