Alcest (FRA) – Souvenirs D’un Autre Monde LP €28.88
Black Metal
Released in 2007, Alcest’s debut album, “Souvenirs d’un autre monde”, marks the starting point of the band’s extraordinary career.
With the release of “Souvenirs d’un autre monde”, Alcest mastermind Neige forged a luminous new sound that floats on the fringes of metal, yet incorporates emotions of euphoria, bliss and nostalgia. The singer and multi-instrumentalist dedicated the album to his childhood memories of experiences in a spiritual otherworld; personal themes that would become conceptual cornerstones of subsequent Alcest albums.
“Souvenirs…” became known as one of the fundamental releases of the Blackgaze / Post-Black Metal genre, a record that continually influences countless other bands in its wake, and was selected by Pitchfork as one of its “50 Best Shoegaze Albums of All Time”.

Algaion (SWE) – Oimai Algeiou DIGI-CD €15.88
Black Metal
Released in 1995 by the pivotal Full Moon Productions, Oimai Algeiu was underground black metal for underground black metallers. Not kowtowing to increasingly trendy Scandinavian sounds, no “romance” or gothic or vampires, and definitely no mosh nor no fun: ALGAION here created a surging and windswept landscape on which to paint dark desires and honor that Hellenic pantheon. It was a raw landscape, to be sure, but one contemporaneous with their Greek brethren and duly emitting a perhaps-colder atmosphere than the duskiness usually associated with that scene. However, above all, it was the songwriting itself which put Oimai Algeiou amongst that hallowed company, pulsing with a simple-yet-sublime melodicism and never-forgotten heavy metal spirit, all dusted with just the right amount of melancholy and the subtlest hint of synth.

Altered Heresy (BEL) / Dakhanavar (USA) – Split MC €14.88
Black Metal
With prior releases coming from the exalted like of Goatowarex, Atrocity Altar and a couple splits with esteemed colleagues, Altered Heresy have definitely made a splash since their arrival in 2018. This split offers them a further platform to batter their audience with their torrid blend of black metal with a searing industrial edge. The drums seem to hum they are so blindingly quick, however they almost lull the listener into a trance a the hypnotic and off-kilter melody and razor sharp malevolence of the songs assault the listeners consciousness.
With no formal introduction or preface Dakhanavar seem to crawl out of a bizarre celestial hippodrome and break forth with epic callous savagery that is as melodic and captivating as it is crass and off-putting. If this first track from a new project of the Astral Serpent is any indication of what is to come, beware.”In stock

Anathema (UK) – Serenades MARBLE LP €34.88
Death / Doom Metal
A mature and majestic display of pure heaviness mixed with sorrowful melody to conjure an ethereal work of Doom Metal magic, Anathema’s 1993 debut ’Serenades’ clearly demonstrated that this was a band who stood apart from many of their competitors, able to effortlessly transition from the dark foreboding of tracks such as ‘They (Will Always) Die’, to more sensitively textured moments as witnessed on the acoustic guitar-laden ‘J’ai Fair une Promesse’.
A limited cream marble-effect vinyl edition of Anathema’s debut Serenades marking 30 years since its original release.

Ancestral Fortitude (USA) – Stronghold MC €12.88
Black Metal
Debut demo from this new act featuring members part of the PABM Inner Circle, featuring members of Silvanthrone and Doppelaxt.
Mighty and stoic Black Metal, in the veins of Eastern European giants like Hate Forest or Walknut, or more recently acts as Eternal Tyrant or The Apocalyptic Sign. 12 minutes of hard as steel, loud as thunder feral Black Metal, praising strength and unyielding impiety, carried by a blizzard of fierce but melodic riffing, very well structured, always accompanied by the absolutely ravaging drums and howls of war.

Ancestral Shadows (USA) – Wolven Mysteries Of Ancient Lore VIOLET LP €28.88
Black Metal
Although “Wolven Mysteries of Ancient Lore” is shorter; the lore, style and essence remain untouched, with a little variation in terms of the atmosphere, using some Dungeon Synth passages and interludes.
Production-wise is maybe a bit “dirtier” (so to speak) than its predecessors; vocals in here are more in the back-ground, resembling more to an echo rather than an actual voice, and function more as an complementary atmos-pheric element. Other than that, all the instruments are well differenciated and easy to isolate, but they also come as a whole. The harmony and consonance between all the songs is very solid.
Eight songs, half of them being instrumental interludes and the other half consisting of four long passages, which I am unable to highlight one of them. “Stronghold of the Black Abyss” is their most generic (with a good conno-tation obviously) in terms of style, with a remarkable second half; “Black Autumn Silence” is their most saddest and melancholic song to date, with more than half of it being instrumental and with feminine voices/chants (which has become a trademark of this band since day 1) and griefing riffs. The homonymous song if the most complex of them four, with a Dungeon Synth bridge functioning as a tempo changer.
“Wolven Mysteries of Ancient Lore” is another highly remarkable piece of Black Metal by the New Hampshire fellas. Captivating, full of identity and atmospheric melancholy. In stock
